Ashton Primary Care Centre

A Centre for 6 GPs in 2 practices. 4995 sq m secondary to primary care and community health accommodation.

The innovative and purpose-built Ashton Primary Care Centre not only house's a 6-GP surgery along with an extensive range of other health and social care facilities but, located on a town site, it also provide's a focal point for the community and serves as a catalyst for the regeneration of the St. Petersfield area of Ashton Under Lyne.

A reflection of extensive consultation and engagement with Stakeholders throughout all phases of the development process, the Centre focuses on understanding and integrating local needs and priorities. This process informs the design and ensures that the health and well-being of patients and staff are enhanced, whilst at the same time providing flexible and adaptable environments in order to meet the future changing demands of community-based health and social care.

Its creative use of space and design allows a selection of complimentary public and private services to be offered, catering for the growing needs of patients in this area and affordability and value for money has been enhanced through the development of multi-purpose rooms and the attraction of a private sector tenant as third party revenue provider.

Tricia Sloan, Acting Chief Executive of Tameside and Glossop PCT (at the time), said: "We are delighted that Community Solutions for Primary Care has been selected as the preferred bidder and look forward to the next stage of the development of the new contemporary primary care centres planned for Tameside and Glossop. The services they will offer represent a radical new approach in the provision of health care for local people."

The project is one of two schemes, the first phase, with a capital value of £28 million, is part of a Public Private Partnership (PPP) agreement between Community Solutions for Primary Care (CSPC), Partnerships for Health (PfH), Bury Primary Care Trust (PCT) and Tameside & Glossop Primary Care Trust (PCT).

The 'LIFTCo' that was formed as a result of this agreement entered into 25 year Lease Plus Agreement with Tameside & Glossop PCT for parts of the facility.

LIFTCo is responsible for the maintenance of external and internal fabric of the facility (Hard FM/Soft FM)
